Aggie Produce
With my collaborative group of four people we decided to create Aggie Produce based on public health concerns. At UC Davis there is currently an organization called Aggie house that gives housing to students who can not afford it. We wanted to support these students in creating Aggie Produce which are garden beds for students to come together whether it’s to get fresh produce or to de stress outside gardening we wanted to provide that space.
We created two garden beds for our first prototype two at different heights for accessibility reasons. We want everyone to be able to enjoy our gardens together. Regarding the upkeep of our gardens we would provide plant science majors volunteer hours for coming to work on our gardens and helping the upkeep.
After our project was done we decided to move forward with our case study of Aggie Produce and we would like to continue further in creating garden beds for our target audience.
I was precasting our product to fellow students and showing our interactive experience part of our presentation. Which is for students to plant a seed in our garden bed prototype.
Here for our final prototype we have two garden beds at differentiating heights one where students will plant seeds and the other showing what the plants will look like full grown ready to be taken as fresh produce.
Here my group member Shampave was presenting to Professor Housefield our design teacher. He gave us some tips on our gardens as well as offering to help us in the process of creating the real thing.
Our interactive aspect of our design was for students to use the shovel to dig a small hole then to place a seed and to cover it back up.
Students participating in our interactive process.

Prototyping is my favorite part of building a product. For Aggie Produce I used cardboard for our garden beds and painted them for our prototype.

These are the materials we used in a palette photo. Cardboard, leaves, dirt, plastic sticks, and vegetable drawings.

Two different heights for accessibility. For wheel chair access so that everyone can come together and enjoy our gardens.

Feedback from other students. we taped them all together to see everyone's opinions and how we could improve on our product.

This was our first iteration of our garden bed prototype using paper. We used fake leaves and paper scraps for the inside of the garden beds.
